DR W.A. ASEKUN is a Social Psychologist, Senior Lecturer and Coordinator of a Postgraduate Programme (Master of Managerial Psychology) at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos, Nigeria. His research focuses on identity Construction, inter-group relations, conflicts, among others. He completed his bachelor’s and master’s degree in Psychology at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria in 1999 and the University of Lagos, Akoka, Nigeria in 2007 respectively. His PhD degree was awarded in 2016, in Psychology by University of Nicosia, Cyprus. He has published in several refereed Journals and presented in academic conferences in different parts of the world. He is a co-author of two textbooks, ‘Fundamentals of Social Research’ and ‘Introduction to social psychology’. He was the Principal Investigator of a Tertiary Trust Fund (TETFUND) research grant in 2016. He has also received many travel grants to participate in International conferences. He serves in several scholarly committees of his department, the faculty and international Academic/Professional associations. He is a member of Nigerian Psychological Association, American Psychological Association, International association of Cross-Cultural Psychology, Society for the Psychological Study of Social l Issues, among others.
Dr. Asekun is presently a Fellow of ARUA-Carnegie at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in the Notions of Identity in Africa, at the Makerere University, Uganda.
