CoE Member dancing with Ndere Cultural dancers
On the 11th of September, 2022. Four Staff members of the ARUA CoE Identities spent their Sunday evening at the Ndere Cultural Centre, Kampala-Uganda. Ndere Cultural Centre is a cultural organization for universal unity through music dance and drama. The performing group was founded to change the terrible image painted by colonialists that traditional dances were evil https://ndere.com/about-us/. The performances are both very entertaining and very educative as the artists tell the (his) stories behind every performance. The performances of the day included the traditional dances from tribes of different regions in Uganda, their meanings and how they related to the way of life of the tribes. For the ARUA CoE Identities researchers that are enthusiasts about African Identities, the cultural Centre is a great avenue to learn, appreciate and research the African Identity. Moreover, the centre provides a rich ground for the knowledge decolonization.
